BAE and Armed Forced roadshow

BAE Systems in partnership with the Royal Navy and RAF were in the academy on Monday 2 December 2024 to deliver an engaging theatre roadshow celebrating STEM across Britain to pupils in year 7 and 8. It also highlighted the different careers within engineering and that engineering is a career for anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity or gender.

The theme of this show was electricity. It was a highly interactive show which explored what electricity is and how we generate it. Pupils and teachers were amazed by some of the ‘shocking’ demonstrated and may be ‘breathless’ by the end of the show.

The multimedia and interactive demonstration, involved creating a simple circuit, exploring the pros and cons of different energy sources, creating an electrostatic charge with a Van de Graaff generator, and a finale, where a teacher was invited to use a pedal power to turn on the LED windmill with its colourful light display and animations.
