Homework at Ercall Wood Academy
At Ercall Wood Academy, evidence based educational research informs the design, structure and delivery of our curriculum so that we can best support all of our students to achieve their potential.
We strongly believe that homework is an integral part of learning and further enhances the ability of our students to succeed academically. Evidence from EEF states that homework has a positive impact on average (+5 months) with students.
Homework provides students with regular and systematic independent practice of the essential knowledge taught in lessons for consolidation of learning. We understand that students may not have a quiet space for home learning, therefore we offer Homework Club which provides a space free of interruptions to support students with completing their homework after school. We also provide after school enrichment clubs for our students to practice the more practical elements of the curriculum.

Working together – Academy, parents and students
At Ercall Wood Academy we recognise that parents play a key role in helping to ensure that our students, your children, receive the best possible support to successfully complete their homework and revise effectively.
Parents can support their child by providing a quiet space at home that is free of distractions such as television, mobile phones and social media.
Parents can also sign up to the homework platforms to track their child’s engagement and progress in their homework, and to encourage their child to complete their homework on time.
